Video clip and mixing/mastering of our EP

We are eggs and tiaras, an electro-pop duo from Zurich and Neuchâtel. In our songs we like to tell beautiful, dark or amusing-absurd stories of everyday life in German, French and English. We wish to have a funding to be able to release our first EP composed of 3 songs, one of which will be the subject of a video clip. The money collected will be used for the mixing and mastering of the EP and the shooting of the video clip of the song called «Chaleur». It’s important for us to be able to pay all the people involved in our project.

What the EP contains

It’s been more than a year since we started playing live concerts. These moments remain the strongest exchange we had with our music project. Now we want to continue this experience in a different format, giving our audience the opportunity to hear us on streaming platforms.

With the production of our first EP, which we will release on June 14th (the day of the feminist strike), we want to advance our music project that has been going on for two years. The EP is especially close to our hearts because its content supports the feminist movement. As a female duo, we experience inequality because of our gender, both in the music industry and in our personal lives.

With our music we want to share our experiences with sexism and pass on the energy of our anger and the resulting empowerment.

The EP is sung in three different languages. It contains «Lasst Uns Uns Sein,» «Punch in Your Face,» and «Chaleur,» which will be released along with the video clip. The content of «Chaleur» is simple, with a bassline that hits and backs up the statement «We’re hot, but that doesn’t mean we’re excited (to do something)» (original: «On a chaud, mais ça ne va pas dire qu’on est chaude!»).

«Lasst Uns Uns Sein» is a story that describes a situation of harassment on the bus. It consists of intrusive looks and inappropriate gestures/touching. It then describes the doubts and discomfort that result from this violence. The story has three protagonists: The harasser, the person being harassed, and a person observing the scene.

«Punch in Your Face» is a song that in the first part describes a love story full of resentment. The second part is about a decision to turn away from heterosexuality as a personal and political choice. «I go ahead, run and run forward. It’s a political decision not to meet you anymore!» (Original: «J’avance, cours et fonce. It’s a political choice, not to see you anymore»).

This is what we need backing for

Part of the money raised will be used for the mixing and mastering of the music by a professional musician. The other part will be used for the production of the music video and the payment of all participants and the technical equipment used.

The production (mixing/mastering)

After the phases of composition, arrangement and recording, which we do ourselves, come the phases of mixing and mastering. Mixing involves, among other things, adjusting the volume of the various drums and synthesizers by processing the different frequencies (using filters called «equalizers») and adding effects.

Mastering is the final step of post-production. Here, the sound elements of the composition are adjusted to each other and the volume of the entire track is increased. The last two steps are crucial for the music to be released on streaming platforms and not lose quality.

The video clip

For the production of the music video, we proposed our project to a director whose work we particularly like. This person will take care of creating a script for the song, as well as finding a film crew and filling the different positions as needed. For example, we have determined that there will be a person for the image, a director, a decorator, a person who will take care of the graphics, and certainly other people for the technical parts. The more money we have, the more people can take care of the project. During and after the shooting, there will be a period of editing, graphic design and communication.
